My sister and I decided to last minute sign up for a 10K race just to challenge ourselves and keep us strong as we get more pregnant. We felt good throughout - definitely a solid minute/mile slower! - but we ran the whole thing without stopping which is what we'd like to maintain as long as possible on these longer runs.
When we run races together we always wear tutus - usually matching but not always - and this race was no exception. Seeing as it was happening over Memorial Day weekend, I figured I'd color coordinate with the holiday.
Runnin' for 'Merica! ;)
We also had to take a few pre-race shots together around the Capitol. It's a small, local race so less than 1,000 people ran. Lots of time to hang out beforehand, relax and be silly. Three things we're very good at!
All along the course spectators would shout "Love the tutus!" and "Looking good!" but at one point near the end, less than a mile to go, a man was huffing and puffing and gasping as we passed him. He looked up and muttered "If I get beat by two girls in tutus, I'm gonna be pissed..." I turned back to him and said, "And the worst part? We're both pregnant!" Then we left him in our dust ;)
We made it, we high fived, we held hands across the finish line like we always do and we cheersed with our post-race free pizza, sports drinks and took a selfie with our medals. Just another day in our lives :)
