Lots of balls..... in blackpropaganda

There was a little bit of Spain in our house last night as I watched the European League Cup Final between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid which was played in Lisbon. Its amazing that after God knows how many soccer matches between the best teams in Europe over the season the final was between the two Madrid teams. The build up was enormous while we were in Spain - Atletico had just won the League in front of Real - and Real were looking for the tenth European Cup -a record. Luckily SW... was out for the evening so after cooking my tea - a wonderful chicken and ham luxury pie from Lidl with chips - and having a few glasses of wine - I settled down. Lots of good play - and then a goalkeeper's mistake by gifted Atletico a goal. Second half and Real Madrid got better - but no goal - end of 90 minutes and five extra minutes to be played - in the third minute of this Real scored. One - one and the match went into extra time. First half of extra time (15 minutes) no score - start of second half Atletico are tiring badly - Real score - then another - and the finish up with a penalty - Four - one. Just think how you would feel if you were an Atletico player - two minutes from winning the biggest prize in European club football - and you lose!!!!

Anyway, that kept me occupied until SW...came home - but do I really want to waste my time next month watching the World Cup from Brazil. At least I can be pretty sure that England will be coming home early.

Do I like soccer - well, it's all right - and watching in on tv means you can do other things when it is boring - but when you get caught up in the Spanish passion for the game then it really means something.

By the way, did you hear that they cancelled the bull fighting fiesta in Madrid last week because three matadors were injured in one day - hey, the bulls fight back!
