Time to go home in In the Kingdom of Suzu

We start to head back tomorrow---we are going to split the trip up into two days. We have done so much driving these last 10 days that to do an 8 hour trip, leaving early in the morning, is just not in us. Jeff is more than ready to get back home.
His mother had him go thru his dad's clothes and he picked quite a few out. My FIL had some very nice, good quality dress clothes which Jeff could use. In addition there was a ring Jeff had always wanted. Jeff would have preferred to wait until another visit, but my MIL was insistent so......needless to say,MIT was more emotional for Jeff than he anticipated.
His sister is a 62 year old spoiled brat. Part of her behavior could possibly be attributed to grief, but not much. I have noticed for a long time, that everything revolves around what "c" wants and what she wants, she pretty much gets. The last few visits, she was very negative about people and things and it has only gotten worse. I would attempt to write about it, but it will take several entries. Perhaps, I can think about it and condense it down, but just writing these few sentences, makes me feel better.
It is time to go home.

There is nothing worse than being in the company of a sourpuss! Death brings out the very best and the very worst in people.
I wish you safe travels. We don't push it while traveling anymore, either. There oughta be SOME perks to getting old! LOL!
Jeff will honor his father's memory by wearing the ring. I suspect FIL would be very pleased. Well done.

Hey! I finally see a "reply" button! Yeah! Wonder how long it has been here and what a dope I am! Very frustrating not being able to reply. With that said, yes, it is no fun being around a sourpuss. I try to make positive comments but it falls on deaf ears. Jeff looks great in what he took of his dad's including a black fisherman's hat but mil first said that she needed to check with C as she might have wanted it! She then said that Jeff should just take it---argh!

I'm still not sure if I'm doing replies right or not! LOL!
When Dad died, one of the things I chose was 4 framed newspapers: two of the Titanic sinking and two of Lincoln (the Civil War and his assassination). My older brother complained about it years later (like 10 years), so I gave him the Titanic ones. He complained that he had wanted the Lincolns, which I ignored. Here's the kicker: he never even hung them on a wall. They stayed in my mother's closet until she moved up here. I imagine they're sitting in his closet now.
Lesson learned: when siblings complain about what they got, ignore them.

So true, so true about the siblings. I think we have finally figured out the comments thing as it seems to be working!
