Here we always wake to birdsong, a much nicer start to a day than we had in Stockport; there is nothing to recommend about a city starting up. Our start is helped along with Sweetheart’s alarm clock, it is a more of a song alarm and there are options, but mostly we have a mix of the clock’s bird song and out side the morning chorus, our mornings the last ten or more days have been bright and full of birdsong; be it the real thing or the agreeable song alarm.
Last evening we had a glowing sunset, it had been a day at odds with the forecast, the forecasted rain detoured living us with a welcome warm sunny day. This morning we awoke to a dull morning and the only the birdsong from the alarm-clock! Replacing our morning singing was the repeated patter of raindrops hitting the patio or falling through the spring foliage, so it was an early start with the rainwear as our dogs were walked for their morning exercise.
All day the weather kept up the rain, the only change was the changing amounts of rain, and it didn’t help our activity of the day! On Wednesday our new mattresses arrived and the beds were to arrive today, I had a phone call from the driver to tell me he would be here about 6 o-clock tonight; well we had all day to rearrange the bedroom. Soon we had the old double mattresses stood upright in the kitchen, the divan base splits in to and soon one half was under cover by the bins; the other half filling the back of my Estate Car.
By mid afternoon I with my son had moved our furniture, and there was a empty space for assembling our new beds, there was a chance we might be sleeping on our new mattresses tonight; other wise I was quite happy – my back wasn’t quite so happy! Five o-clock I had a second phone call from the van driver, where we live there are no numbers on the houses, so I had to run through my instructions on haw to get here; there are two versions – for those who come through Perranporth – and the other for those coming from all points west of us!
By six we had two long boxes with all the parts to make into our beds for tonight, I opened a box in the bedroom and spread to parts about and read through the instructions, as usual there were clear’ish; but it seems every thing was there, with just a brake for tea I set about my task! By ten I had the bedroom full of beds, the only slight problem was some sap seeping out of the planks that support the mattresses, fortunately I still had the boxes that were just the right size when opened flat.
Friday morning update.
We slept well, my back that was complaining by bed time felt better than I expected this morning, I had ordered a firm Orthopedic mattresses, as I eased down in the new bed last night I felt my back relaxing; today my back is stiff which is must better than I expected!
To day we tackled the discarding of the old bed, the base was in two ports, each just small enough to fit into my estate car with a few little bits slipped in, so that was two trips to Newquay. The mattresses was a one piece double size, so it was to long to do in length ways, so we had to fold it, and that is the problem – how do you hold the upper part down was we pick up the rest of the mattresses! My son and I managed with a grunting push, once in it crossed the floor of the back and round the near side window and across the roof …..
My first outing of the day was to the beach, Daughter was taking Lola for a walk on the sand, not a great day but mostly dry; the holiday people seemed pleased enough with the day, the lifesavers are on the beach now for the season; and a group of riders made their way along the beach.
