Im in another world in Bittersweet

I dont get it sometimes when people say. Well this is X town. Like that should MEAN Something or make a difference. Last night was the first time we realized in our spoiled little world. That we ARE in another world. And one we dont quite understand.

We let our 12 YO go to the trampoline park. We do it all the time. It was his friend J’s birthday and Friend O was going as well. O is 13, J turned 13 yesterday, Ch is 12. We figured, 3 kids that age, be fine for a few hours at the park without an adult. We were wrong. ch was ganged up on by 3 kids and they hit him, many times. He tried to leave, Tried to get to seecurity, tried to get to the people working there. They followed him assaulting him. They videoed it in the bathrooms.

He called us saying he was sick. We came to get him, and he broke down telling us what happened. The kids went after J after we left, the police were called. We went back and made statements. We were there until almost 11. They closed at 9 and random people were still waiting for their parents to come get them. After talking with the police we elected not to press charges despite multiple videos of them attacking our son and his friend. The cop told us they were from the bad side of town and it really drove home what different world we live in.
I remember one of my previous coworkers saying that parts of this town look like a 3rd world country. The kids are from the bad side of town. The mom came in laughing like it was some kind of wild joke. This is another saturday night for them. Cops, who cares. Kids in trouble. No matter. Its heartbreaking watching these 3 kids go after my son, But what difference would it make. Pressing charges would come down to the parents, be thrown out in court, put the kids through a lot of stress. For what? A fine at best, which would make the childs home life so much worse…

It sucks. I dont know what else to do. Hes ok, His face is swollen from being hit. J has split lips from the kid hitting his face and his braces. J is trained in karate and fought back and put the kid on the floor. The mom tried to use that video as the kids defense. They have 4 videos of her kids attacking and my kid retreating. There was no excuses… The mom laughed and thought it was hilarious.

Im just… This is another world. This is what they mean by you live in X. Parents dont care, parents who dump their kids and they form packs and run wild. The videos suck guys. They really suck. Ch isnt the biggest kid. The kids arent much bigger, but there were several. I just want to leave any resemblance of city behind. Im not cut out for this either. Another year and we can maybe sell this house, There are small towns everywhere. At least in the part of town im living in, its the country. You may get cowboy frights and shit. But its all rodeo and country. I cant handle these gangs and people who think that this is hilarious…
