stage three: bargaining in poetry

think of all the things you touched today
shipped in from a half a world away
so a rich man maybe only one town over
didn't have to pay someone a living wage
made in Malaysia
printed in Taipei
assembled in India
so they don't have to pay
and they pass the unemployment onto you
what a bargain
what a deal
what a vicious cycle
what a steal
it doesn't even feel real
unless you squint
to read the tea leaves
to read the fine print
we're discounting ourselves to death
