Thank you Oscar Buzz. I tried writing earlier this year but stopped 2 entries in. I still read my favorites and as always rarely note because I never know what to say.
I’m going to try again - there’s so much going on but I’ll start with the most recent events. So, a few weeks back Frank’s sudden severe chest and back pain took us to the ER. It was terrifying and even more so when we found out he had an Acute Pulmonary Embolism, which could just as easily as not have killed him. We’ve had 2 additional ER visits since then due to significant chest pain spikes which we know now were due to the damage to his lung caused by the blood clots. Seeing many specialists and trying to figure out what this all means. Will he need to be on blood thinners forever (a scary proposition since they may prevent future clots but come with significant risks)? Will the fluid on his lung which is not reabsorbing need to be drained? Long-term prognosis (sooooo many physical limitations right now) which we are trying to navigate. Recovery is very slow.
I thank god that we are fortunate enough to have great medical insurance through my employer (we’re almost at $50k in medical expenses so far). More importantly wrapping my head around the fact that I could have lost him and that we never really know what’s going on in our bodies. It has us rethinking things. Retirement might come earlier than we planned. Because you just don’t know how much time you have to celebrate life and each other, so why wait?
