Something and nothing – and some distant blossom …. in The odd entries from life …….

Strangely Friday feels like Saturday!

It was very noisy in the co-op today, and there were only three of us and the lady at the till who was very quiet, so there was me and her and him; I was in the middle! He hailed her as if she was in the next shop, she replying as if he was deaf, and me in the middle have ok ears for my age – it’s half past seven! She paid up and I took up my place at the till, the lady pointing out the other till was free. Leaning forward I said ‘It’s very noisy being in between, she smiled and agreed …..

We have a good forecast for the weekend, out on the patio it is nicely warm, here in side I have a pullover. Sweetheart said it will a barbeque weekend, and the supermarkets would be selling that odd looking meat covered in barbeque sauce, I’ve looked at it several times but was never inclined to buy; this came about because of me buying a bagged salad at the co-op!

In certain situations an absent of words is better than doing your best ….

We are having wonderful mornings at the moment, the clear morning light brings out so many greens in the other side of the valley, it’s just a shame we have powers lines running through the trees; a frustration of lines!

Now it is Saturday!

Holding your camera …. I don’t hold my breath when I squeeze the shutter release, but as I exhale – the body likes to know the next breath is about to arrive! I have ‘Improve Photography’ landing in my inbox, it has all sort of articles to help improve your skills, the last issue had a video about holding your camera correctly!

When I was teaching in adult evening class holding a camera was there in class one, it’s not much having great lens if there dancing about in your hands; tripods are great but a useful tripod is heavy; the tripods that are easy to carry all day are a compromise I don’t like.

So a tripod is an option when I have to, the rest of holding a camera is worth working at, elbows in right hand holding the camera body, left hand supporting the lens and the fingers moving the settings as necessary. It is quite possible to take good images with those all auto cameras, but a little human input helps to create something that little better! But all this depends on how well you hold you camera, there are good images were movement is part of the image; but all shaken and stirred all the time is lazy!

Over thirty years ago I was in London with my Sister, she wanted a loaf of bread, central London isn’t a great place to buy bead, we ended at Fortnum and Mason’s who did have a loaf at a price. I noticed an interesting building across the road, the light was poor and I had Kodachrome 25 in my camera, leaning against a sturdy wall and holding my camera with elbows in feet apart; I managed a sharp image with a quarter of a second exposure.

                                              oooOooo

Sunday. The May Blossom has arrived this weekend, the blossom is that of the Hawthorn, there are two thorn bushes in the UK, the Blackthorn blooms in late March and through April, before the leaf buds open; the Hawthorn blooms after the leafs have opened.

The Valley on Sunday and the blossom of the hawthorn has bloomed.

As the two photographs show we are enjoying a period of dry sunny days, such weather encourages people to book holidays, in the hope that summer has arrived – and will stay! Places like Perranporth rely on the holiday trade, last year was quite good after the prolonged cold spring, if the holiday season starts sooner it will be good for those who rely on the people on holiday. The first year we were here there was a blistering hot summer, the road down into Perranporth was a long queue; a welcome sight to the traders ……

Time I was getting ready, there is an excited Ziggy in the kitchen, he knows Lola has gone and is very keen to follow her to his agility class.
