Hi there Readers! How are you all?The title refers to the fact that,on walking back down the drive with Taitai after a delicious long walk at 6.30 am, (I walked 2 km),I noticed our 2 plum trees are in blossom! It is not officially Winter yet, however,Spring is not 'til September and it is still May!OK climate change devotees, settle down, I am not about to admit defeat, am just baffled!!Probably won't last as up until today,we had two mornings of 6degrees,centigrade with freezing Southerlies and this morning it was 10 degrees.Which means the temps ARE dropping!I am delighted that it isn't really cold yet.I deplore bleak cold Winter days,so roll on warm!
It irritates me that our national gardening radio expert has been taken off air,or rather giiven 10 mins at the end of our DIY hour.I can't even ring and ask!He is Rood Kleinpaste
, alovely Dutchman who has been doing an hour from 7-8am for 27 years! It was so successful that they just HAD to stop it didn't they!He is also a bug man!Ugh!!Ah well, I will find out somehow. It has been a rather fractionated week and not particularly interesting aart from the fact that Jimmy, my 9 year old grandson, has endured another diagnostic day which shows the extent of the Crohns disease. This involved a colonoscopy, a tube with a light on it and a camera, inserted into his anus which then travelled all the way u to the duodenum and at the same time an endoscopy which involved the same proceedure through the mouth to the stomach.Poor darling! It was done under General Anaesthetic and Janet was allowed to watch on a screen. She was fascinated ,and at the same time, apalled and devastated! The Crohns is in the small and large intestines, rectum and anus. The duodenum is showing some inflammation and is next in line.Luckily not in the stomach and alimentary canal.
Absolutely heart-breaking though for Janet who broke down afterwards and wept.Oh my poor girl!Jimmy still has an open fistula, which is a source of infection which starts internally and drains externally. This is in the anus and the doctors have put in a special drain now until it heals.May take another 12 weeks of antibiotics. He has a day appointment in 2 weeks to discuss the results of the last tests and to discuss a long term management plan, diet and medication.Jimmy has lost so much weight it is dreadful.Just a skinny pale version of himself. This is because he is not getting nourishment from food as the bowel doesn't absorb well at all with Crohns disease.
All I can say is that for me it is a heartbreak and I feel helpless. As Granny,I just give all my love and lots of hugs and small helpp if they need it.Watching Janet reacting and listening to her is all part of it.It is a bit like when Penny's marriage broke up and she had a heart attack.I had no knowledge of marriage breakups and learnt very quickly that I must listen and do quiet research. The heart attack I knew TOO much about and it was VERY frightening and I had to rely on the fact that this was a very different type of heart attack to Richies many ones and my fathers death. And great strides have been made in medicine since both the my beloved's and my Dads. However, I made zillions of faux pas in trying to offer advice.I now listen and ask if Penny wants my advice. The same with Janet.I LISTEN now as she has been overwhelmed by her own feelings as Mum and wife and a skilled nurse.Mr Google has been very helpful!!
Our political scene is very nasty at the moment. We have just had a Budget and it has been a relatively good Budget compared to Australias one. However, this has fishhooks.Nothing happens until the national Government has been re-elected.This present one is a very right wing government and I am not a happy camper under its governance. However, what really gets me is the sheer nastiness and rudeness in Parliament and the right wing bias of the media.H--eee---l--p!!!I am a leftie, and I will insist on staying that way.
Today is now gorgeous. It is 9.45am and sunny and warm and clear!Howzat!!I have been putting out washing and preparing to enjoy my day. When I went for my early walk with Taitai,it was slightly misty with a 3/4 moon hanging in a inky, light green fading to blue sky and relatively warm with no wind and,NO PEOPLE!!Gotta love it!
I will finish this now and carry on with my morning.I decided against church this morning as I have been every Sunday for ages!I'm sure my Lord will not mind.Janet is coming for a ride with Penny today so that will be good for her.
One of the hardest lessons in my life I have finally learned!
LISTEN!
Be kind to each other and,
Lots of love and God Bless,
Majimazexxxxxxxx
