Grey’s Anatomy Season Finale…aka SnoozeFest 2014
It can’t just be me that thinks that Grey’s finale was a total bore can it? It wasn’t without its moments, but overall it was a sleeper, especially for a show that shot a doctor in the head and point blank range, crashed its big names in a plane, killed off a series regular in a unidentifiable bus crash, left a beloved doctor lying in a puddle of water electrocuted not to mention the non-season finale of a bomb tech getting blown to pink mist. Let’s take a look at the “moments”: Christina’s goodbye. She wasn’t at the mall when the big boom hit, thankfully, that would have probably instigated a riot. She goes into full Christina mode, operating with Karev (and I loved their moments together), while also arranging to have a donor heart brought to the hospital for Link…oh and she is supposed to fly off to Zurich that day as well. She says her goodbyes…sort of, even hugging Derek. Then Meredith ships her off in a cab. Only she returns and she and Mer dance it out and then she tells Mer that she (Meredith) is the sun! So perfect coming from her. Next, Meredith telling Derek that she is not going to D.C. Her life, her family and her job are in Seattle. She stood her ground and told him she is not going to be her “father” (basically she is not giving up and follow him around). Webber tells Bailey that her funding was cut and that it is okay because he is recommending her for Christina’s seat on the Board. She is super stoked. And why shouldn’t she be, she totally screwed up by giving the kid deactivated HIV without consent, but it’s okay because the kid is okay and out of the bubble. But you know, there were almost criminal charges and she could have lost her license, but let’s give her a big shiny seat on the BOD. Maggie is the new head of cardio thoracic and she doesn’t have such a great first day considering her only subordinate (Christina) is not listening to her and doing her own thing. She has a little heart to heart with Richard and drops the bomb that her birth mom was Ellis Grey. Oh and by the way she is part African-American, so it does not take a genius to figure out that she just told her dad that she exists and that his former lover gave their child up for adoption without ever telling him she was in the family way. And finally while Alex & Jo are sitting at home, he opens an envelope from Cristina and discovers that she left him her shares of Grey-Sloan Memorial and also her seat on the BOD. So…haha screw you Bailey, you lose!!!!!!! Also in the hour, Shane begged Cristina to take him with her to Zurich, so that is how he left the show. And Callie & Arizona are now going to be on the hunt for a surrogate. And that is how the hour long snoozefest went.
The Vampire Diaries Season Finale…
Stefan is dead but Bonnie still has some sort of freaking plan to bring him back along with Enzo and maybe a few other people. The Travelers have taken over Mystic Falls and apparently any supernatural being who crosses the town line will relive their death over and over. Is that how that goes? He banishes Justin/Tyler and Tyler dies. Stefan meets up with his bestie Lexie on the Other Side and they find Silas, who is able to teach Bonnie the spell to open the portal or some shit like that. The Sheriff manages to gather all the travelers at the Grill with free booze and then Damon & Elena drive The General Lee through the building exploding it thanks to Matt & Jer fixing the gas line. So they are all dead, but that is okay because Bonnie has the portal thing open with the help of that Liv chick & her creepy brother. Enzo is the first to walk through, that being his goal and all, then Tyler goes through, without fangs. I guess he is only a werewolf now and not a hybrid. Bonnie drags Elena through even though she wants to wait for Damon, who is trying to get the Sheriff out of the literal Mystic Grill with Alaric’s help. Stefan is waiting for Damon but ends up getting through when Bonnie stumbles and he catches her. Lexie is waiting because she is Stefan’s BFF and that is her job to wait for Damon (also the actress must not want to be a series regular or they were afraid she would mess up the Stefan/Caroline sexual tension). Alaric & Damon arrive, and Alaric gets through, but Damon is unable to because Liv’s douche brother stopped the spell. Also Bonnie knew she was never coming back. So now she and Damon are on the crumbling Other Side and awaiting their fate. Good news: Alaric is back (Matt Davis is a season regular next year!). I am guessing that Damon is not really dead and that Grams made some sort of voodoo hoodoo magic to secure Bonnie’s happiness and they will both walk through the Tardis and return to Mystic Falls. As a side not, how can we be five seasons in and not have heard of the local pizza place Mystic Pizza? Can they not get the rights to use that? Throw us oldies a bone people. It sort of feels like that was the penultimate season five episode and not the finale.
