That’s been my personal way of expressing or summing up how I feel. The calm I have. Things feel easier. Though. Am I still a touch lazy? You bet your ass.
I lifted today. 8th workout in 9 days. upper/lower/upper/lower/upper/rest/upper/lower/upper… In theory, I should be burned out. Been indulging in 28 minute naps, sometimes twice a day. Overnight sleep is staying above 5 hours - I made sure I got over 7 last night. Close to red-line, but I’m still falling asleep reasonably. Keeping my protein intake high.
Oh, I’m watching for signs of burnout, but they’re not there yet.
5-HTP, GABA, and no caffeine. I dabbled with 5-HTP last April, but that correlated with me feeling really tired in the morning. But! I was overdosing on dark chocolate. I was so naive as to how much caffeine was in dark chocolate. I ended up repeating the mistake in May. And while I dialed it down, I was still using dark chocolate to binge on in August. I have significantly dialed back how much chocolate I have. If I do have any, it’s in the afternoon.
The whole binging on something prior to a big meal right before bed is a DIFFICULT habit to break. My compensation for that has been to tell myself to have “dinner” closer to mid-afternoon. I eat lunch around 3-3:30 before work anyway. Then eat a smaller supper around 7-9. Or eat AGAIN if need be.
Scale is about the same. Chocolate is calorically dense, just like me!
I’ve also been dabbling with GABA before bed. Too soon to gauge whether it is making a difference. Oh, if I take 5-HTP, I take it midday. Seems to help make my evenings less tense. I still get bored, but it doesn’t bother me as much. The “GOSH, I REALLY WISH I WAS ENJOYING MYSELF” is replaced with “eh, whatever.”
Today’s workout felt insanely good, which only correlates with a new preworkout I got last weekend. Since it needs saying: It doesn’t have caffeine. There are days I kind of force myself through. Willpower. My upper body workouts have been drifting over 80 minutes. Today was 87 minutes. And I had energy throughout, up through the last rep of every exercise. And don’t you dare say I’m not lifting intensely/heavy enough, bro. Do you even lift? <3
(Prior, I didn’t do any preworkout supplement. Just eat some oatmeal or whey, and that’s that. Now it’s oatmeal or why [as they are food], and preworkout.)
But yeah, maybe it really is the dialing back of caffeine. Shit is toxic. Nonetheless, we’ll see what happens going forward. I certainly feel better than I did in June.
