Ok, Ok, So.... in Thirty-Six

Alright guys, how are we doing today, this Tuesday afternoon, 10th of August? Well we are doing ok. We are waiting on a phone call from the BUYER of our house.

That’s right folks, we got in just under the radar, someone bought the house from us on Saturday, with a close date on Tuesday, August 17th. That means that the house won’t go for auction on the 18th and we won’t end up with a foreclosure to our name.

SWEET!

In the last 2 years we have had like 6 or 7 people come out to look at the house and property and we haven’t gotten an offer over $100k. I think one person even offered like $75k and we laughed him out the door. We owe $108k on the house so why would we sell it for that much less?

Anyway, so these people came out Saturday, looked at all the different things wrong with it, went home and ran their own figures (probably repairs, etc + what they could sell it for, easily $250k) and came back with an offer. We know we owe $108k. They originally offered $118k. Randy asked for $120k and they accepted that, so we will most likely end up with something like $5k once everything is paid off (which is also a credit card we owed on), so that is awesome.

We will use that to get the car fixed, buy a shed in NM and then start working on the house.

The phone call we are waiting for is for them to tell us whether or not we are starting to fill a storage unit today or whether we have until August 31st to vacate. The buyer was going to call the lender and see if they would allow us the extra time to get out. If not, they will rent us a storage unit that we can move everything to by next Tuesday and then we’ll have it for a month and can figure out storage and come get within that time frame.

So that’s good. Either way we have a plan in place. My dad is working on things at the house to get the room ready for us. He’s updating my old closet into a work station for Randy to paint in. Then he’s taking out and replacing the carpet (for allergy and rat reasons), bed and dressers in there, so we can take the guest bedroom set and throw it in there. We’re selling our king bedroom set because it’s just too big. We don’t have room for it and selling it is probably our best option. It’s a really nice set and we could probably get a good amount for it.

That’s what’s been going on my friends. It’s been a rough few days but we have been keeping busy and getting stuff sorted out. We are both exhausted already. It’s going to get worse, but I think we will be ok.
