Astonishing though it may sound to read this - I baked some cookies a few days ago...

This isn't an entirely unheard of event but the last time it happened was well over 12 years ago. They turned out reasonably well and I'm still alive after consuming several of them so I must've got something right. Jesica is fine too after I gave her some of them.

They're coffee, nut and apple flavour. Goodness knows what I'm going to do with the jar of instant coffee that I bought to make them with though. The recipe only called for a couple of teaspoons of the stuff... I like the taste of coffee in food but I can't stand it as a drink. Maybe I should've thought that through a little better. ;)

In other news we got a pay increase at work this month. It's 3% for the second year running - very welcome considering the many years we went without any rise prior to last year.

Yesterday Jesica and I went to the cinema to see Pompeii. Once we'd gone to the right screen we did anyhow. I could absolutely swear that when the guy gave us the tickets he said it was Screen 4. So off we went to Screen 4 only to find it was Moshi Monsters playing in that one (whatever the hell Moshi Monsters is!!!). So I looked at the tickets and saw that we were supposed to be in Screen 10. We didn't miss anything - we always get in before the trailers begin. Maybe it was my mistake but I'm sure he'd said Screen 4...

During the trailers another of the guys who works there came into the room and asked us all individually if we'd like the heating to be turned up in the room. That's a new one. Not as big a task for him as it might sound though as there were only 5 of us in the audience. It was an 11:40am showing.

I got a really nice item in Primark last weekend. I'd actually gone in to look for a new summer hat (a straw one). I found the hat though I've not found the summer yet. Anyway, while I was in there I looked through the clothes too and found this Dalek sweatshirt:

Those of you who really know your Doctor Who will see that this is a bit retro... The Dalek pictured on the shirt is from a set of 1964 William Hartnell era episodes of the show in which the Daleks invade Earth (this Dalek is pictured in front of the Houses of Parliament). William Hartnell is my favourite Doctor so I'm especially pleased. Bargain at £12 !!!
