Logo contest? in Site Updates

I mentioned to twentytwenty that I was thinking of starting a logo contest, if there's enough artistic types on Prosebox to drum up some interest in such a thing. If there is enough interest, my plan would be to use the winning entry on the main landing page you see before you sign up or log in.

Twentytwenty, being awesomely proactive, has already posted an entry with her idea for logos.

Anybody interested? I seem to recall that some other site once had a logo contest, a long time ago. And the winning entry was never used! For shame! If there's enough people interested, and there's really a contest, the winning entry will definitely be used.

People are jumping in with great suggestions: I'm working on getting their ideas up on the same page too. :)

Cool idea. It's funny that everyone here says "the other site" OD isn't a dead Uncle that folks are sorry they weren't nicer too. I think it probably wouldn't be offensive to say "OD" out loud. Bruce may have pulled a God Almighty and disappeared from the affairs of human beings, but you know, they don' t calll Livejournal "that other site" on Myspace (which as far as I'm concerned doesn't exist, I mean it was eaten by Html and crass consumerism).

Wish I could participate. I can't draw a straight line with a ruler and a square table, my photoshop skills lean heavy towards the juvenile, and I kind of like the simpleness here. Still it's a cool idea and I support it, especially if a good designer gets recognition.

I like this place, I just don't feel like I'm cheating on my wife by saying OD out loud in my girlfriends bed. This is the life-boat. It's a fine idea. I don't know how many people have thanked you Simple Mind, I hope I'm neither the first nor the last, but thank you.

When I say "the other site", it's more tongue in cheek than anything. Of course we all know that it's OD (or the decline thereof) that's really driving people to this site.

But I also want Prosebox to exist in its own right as something more than a sequel to OD. Heck, I even have this crazy idea of reaching out to a whole new audience at some point!

And you're welcome! It's been fun so far.
