So we got COVID in Life in general

Ugh…
After the last year and half of being so careful and keeping both of us safe and healthy, it finally happened.
The world started opening back up and in the span of 4 days, I went to an art exhibit in Austin, a birthday get together at a restaurant and pool hall the next day, and then 2 days after that a retirement party.
I’m vaccinated so I was starting to feel comfortable not wearing my mask anymore (at least not all the time) but somewhere in there I was exposed.
It started with dehydration and general malaise, then a day or two after my throat started to hurt and tickle which I was more than happy to blame on allergies. The day after that, I started to feel like I’d hit been hit by a bus. Sore throat, runny eyes, congestion, coughing, headaches, sneezing, fevers, no rest and exhaustion. I assumed it was just a virus that must have been going around but on day 3 or so of fully being sick I started having gastrointestinal issues and the day after that the most telltale sign, I lost 100% of my taste and smell. There was nothing. I had a telehealth visit with my doctor who immediately suspected COVID but since I was vaccinated said pretty much I’m going to have to fight it off and that she didn’t even recommend coming in to confirm. A day or so after that, hubby started complaining of not feeling well and even left work early that day and took off the next so I knew it was the real deal. He loved reminding me of how great a job he did keeping us so protected the last year and then I got stupid and blah blah blah. Yeah dude, that helps literally no one and I certainly didn’t do so with any expectation of bringing home the bug since we are both vaccinated.
So here we are, that all started on 6/25-6/26 and I am still not 100%. I’m mostly over the coughing and have been able to sleep somewhat better but I still have a severe lack of energy. Being cooped up in the house for almost 3 entire weeks was terrible but we’re finally past the contagious stage. I have heard from people I know that it can take awhile to get over everything most especially the low energy and stamina issues. I’m getting impatient. I don’t do well when I’m not able to be busy.
Luckily I work at home so I didn’t have to miss much time, just took the day after Independence Day off for a little bit of recovery. My boss wanted me to take more but I finally had to explain that working didn’t require any physical activity and kept me from getting too bored.
The most fun part was that during the actual COVID due to the medication I was taking I had to stop taking my anxiety meds so I was sick and a spaz, which was super duper fun. Luckily I’ve been able to get back on that as well. Of course since life must kick us all while we’re down I got my period now so I’ve got that going on as well.
I know we all go through these phases where we can’t catch a break but I’m ready for it be done. I am just so grateful we were both vaccinated and no one else in my immediate circle got it. I would have felt terrible if I’d have given it to my parents or someone else.
