Brooklyn in keeping it postive

One of NYC's boroughs, the most populated, is also considered the borough of churches. I needed to go into one today... I prayed, with a heart filled with gratitude, thankful for the life I have, the benefits I have, the roof over my head and the food in the pantry, a full wallet and income.

All day - from as soon as I arrived at work till after lunch - I worked with a couple. They were very loving and very cute. They were homeless, had NO ID, no documents, no job, no prospects and had been attacked on the street.

We filled out MANY papers, got their stories, got them connected with Victim's Services, got them the phone numbers of shelters and Catholic Charities, got them lunch and transit cards.

They didn't have to go to testify to the grand jury, but might have to return to the hospital as the woman had a bruised/broken rib and 7 staples in her head. By the end of the time they spent there, the woman (who'd been FRANTIC) was calmer. She'd eaten lunch, napped in a safe place (better than sleeping with one eye open for sure). I really enjoyed them By the time they left, she'd asked if I could adopt them... Ah... NO. I will think of them for a while for sure.
