"He often minded me, that a good textuary is a good divine; and that I should read other books with this in my eye, that I might be the better able to understand and apply the Scripture." CHS

The phone was laying next to my ear when it went off way too early this morning. I have Steve Vai, "For The Love of God" as my ring tone, it's loud and gets my attention. I didn't have time to remember I needed to r.o.l.l. rather than sit straight up. But that is what loud ringing phones cause when one is otherwise occupied in meditative sleep. Maaaann, talk about pain. I forgot all about having the biopsy yesterday but my liver was fast to remind me.

After a trip to the kitchen for an ice pack I had all the prompting I needed to spend the remainder of the day in bed sleeping. Apparently I was tired or the sore belly was enough to put me out.

I woke up around 5 pm and realized I hadn't taken the bandages off so did that. Another rude awakening. I'm allergic to paper tape and for some reason that information didn't make it to those who mummified me in tape. When I got the tape off I had beet red skin, swollen and blistered, and five spots the skin was torn off, kind of like ulcers. I pondered what to do and eventually had a neighbor drive me to the pharmacy so I could buy some liquid skin. I'm trying so hard to avoid infection right now, open sores aren't a step in the right direction.

The little walking at the store was plenty for today. Tomorrow I will make a point to do some intentional motions to begin getting over this feeling of having been stabbed in a mugging. I don't remember these things being so hard on my body before. I have a high tolerance for pain and I'm not a sissy, so there's only one possibility left...I'm getting old.

Began reading a new book this evening, "Commenting and Commentaries" by C.H. Spurgeon. I enjoy his writings, talks, etc. I'm certain some day I would have come across his work, but I'm forever grateful to the friend who early in my walk turned me on to him and encouraged me to push through the language challenges and learn to love the beauty of his messages. Sure miss him.
