So anyway, I recall many years ago a coworker asked me how I always had so much energy. At the time, I didn’t have an clear answer. I told Ariel something like “Um, I just get up and go?” Accurate, but not quite helpful.
I have observed that those who rely on caffeine on a regular basis seem to have the least energy, and/or are cranky in the morning. I stayed away from coffee for a long time because I noticed my mom being addicted to it as a kid. Let’s not mince words: caffeine is an addictive substance. She had it every morning, without fail. So yes, I’d say addiction.
As well, I don’t like the taste of coffee. Says the guy who has done enough liver crossfit that vodka tastes sweet at times.
Seriously.
Moving on.
Maybe it’s because people tend not to annotate when things are working, but I don’t know too many people who seem happy to be on medication. Well, I’ll speak for myself: I’m fine with short-term medication. I was fine with the concept of Lexapro being short-term, even if short-term means a few years. But the rest of my life? No anti-depressant can blot out how depressing that sounds.
Wife is on metformin for high blood pressure.
Five bucks says this is a case of treating the symptom and not the cause. Effectively a single mom of two kids with an overbearing mother? I can spell stress, S-T-R-E-S-S, and I don’t have a medical degree.
Anyway, I didn’t really plan this at the beginning of the month. Not entirely. I got 25 days straight dry last April. And by most logic, I should have felt energetic. After the fact, I realized that wife’s keto pills might have been a factor. Simple: They have caffeine.
As well, I’ve noticed I feel more tired after I take sleep aids.
So.
No stimulants, no depressants, no sleep aids. And.
I feel far better than I have in ages.
Seriously.
I don’t consider myself caffeine sensitive. I think it is something that creeps up on you. Years ago, I found this preworkout, C4.
You don’t forget your first workout on C4. Did an hour-long workout and felt all I WANT MORE. It’s so simple to say “oh, only once a week”. Yet, that’s enough for the body to adapt. You start feeling tired. You need a little bit more. Or some on regular workout days. Or worse, some before work.
Sometimes, I think I’m not joking when I say I may have an addictive personality. (And thus why I stayed away from some things that I consider addictive. Prime examples being DDR and MMORPGs.) Though, this is evidence that weed isn’t addictive, at least to me. I could never smoke another bowl and I wouldn’t care. Though, my bowl is rather pretty. Ha ha. I wonder if that’s half the reason people get their own bowl, as a fashion statement.
Though, that doesn’t hold water, as I’ve had two or three cigarettes in my life, and duh, I’m still a nonsmoker. Forget where I picked this up, but nicotine doesn’t really do anything for you at first. At least, it didn’t for me. It’s only when you’re addicted that the nicotine brings you back to “normal”. As a veteran of liver crossfit, this I know well. (Though, with me, liver crossfit always had a dopamine release.)
Guess it feels nice to be natural? Okay, okay, I’m still on doxycycline hyclate and some drops for my eyes, but shhh. (I’ll annotate next week on how I CAN FUCKING SEE BETTER) To chronicle the journey to here, well. It would take a while to backtrack; as I continue forward I feel myself de-aging to 28.
Have I mentioned I have experience being a gymrat and know a thing or two about nutrition?
