I just bought a game called Outlast on Steam today...pretty spooky looking game, thought I could get some horror thrills out of it. That's me pretending things like that don't scare me to the core of my being. I have been a long time fearer of that which lurks in the dark. I played the game for about 20 minutes...lights off, quiet apartment, hooked my computer up to my TV. Bravo, Outlast, I am properly shitless now.
I love scary shit even though, if you can't tell, it scares me. I had all the Scary Stories book as a kid (if you don't know what those are you probably had a less fearful childhood) and they gave me all manner of nightmares. I don't have too many nightmares nowadays, even though I'm no less afraid of things than I've ever been...most of my scary dreams involve spiders. Hideous, mutated spiders.
My favorite Halloween venue as a kid/teen/adult was Knott's Berry Farm's Halloween Haunt. I have never had better. It was a childhood dream of mine to work there for Halloween...running around scaring people in the streets or in the mazes. I brought a couple girlfriends there because they didn't believe me that it was good. Nothing better for a relationship than watching me scream and cower. I wish I could afford to go down to California and go again.
