Retuning from a late Agility Class on Friday, as the road dipped down towards Perranporth I heard clipping sound from the car, this was just after six pm; the car felt ok so I continued home. Parked on the drive I looked at my rear of side tyre, there I could see a bent nail in the tyre, usually a bent nail hasn’t gone through so I pulled it out, of course with this being a bank-holiday weekend there was a whistling of escaping air!
The Hyundai has a very good tool kit, jacking the car up was fine, so I had the wheel of and the lighter emergence wheel in place. Saturday morning I called the garage, their tyre man doesn’t work Saturdays; so that was it until Tuesday – which is fine I have worked and enjoyed my days off.
First thing I did the usual things, took Ziggy out then had breakfast, then took Ziggy out once more as he never dose both at the same time; he’s our fickle dog! Then I rang the garage to see if they could fix my tyre, the reply was come down any time, I was met on the forecourt and the wheel was lifted out of the car fore [my back is complaining – bags of wet sand – another entry] I was expecting to be told it would be read at four; but not so it would be ready after eleven.
An hour and a half later I was back on the forecourt, the tyre man was just coming to the large water bath, in he hands a ten inch wheel; me being me I had to say it ‘you’ve shrunk my wheel’ It was of a lawnmower and had three punchers fixed, once in the water bath there were evidence of a forth. He retuned with my wheel fixed, it cost me £12 which I thought ok, the wheel is still in the car! Since I got back there have been three rainstorms, now we have a deep blue sky and I am running out of excuses …..
It’s strange how cars can need some attention at the worst time, once in Stockport we had the car packed for a short holiday and the battery just died, I didn’t have to wait over a bank-holiday that time, I took the bus a mile down the road to a car-supermarket; and retuned twenty minutes later with a new charged battery – and we were off!
