More Like Cart... Hops in Everyday Ramblings

From our walk on Saturday. Lovely poppies. I went down to my plot this morning to plant the somewhat leggy tomatoes we took down in a couple of pots on Sunday. These were starts my sister picked up at a local “healthy” grocery she goes to for her produce. The garden was so lovely, with long bearded iris in traditional colors all over in the dappled shade.

I probably didn’t get them deep enough (I did try), but I am learning. I ordered 4-inch pots this morning so I can repot the seedlings I have here at home.

Before I went to the garden, I did Handstand Club. I would say that if you were trying to figure out what I was doing they would look more like cart-hops rather than cartwheels. The wheel part was missing but I did try. I also did kick up leg switches and most scary of all… forward tuck and tumbles over two bolsters.

You know…tumbling.

Cartwheels in the grass with the dandelions and the bees were so much fun when I was a kid. It’s not so much the weight, it is the length of my arms and my ability to extend in motion. This is such a great course; everything is so well thought out.

We are doing the pulling things that made me so sore again on Saturday. Building strength. This goes through June. A number of folks are doing this for the second time and if she does it again, I am doing it again because I think it may take something like six months to get strong enough. The tumbling was a big step though.

I could not figure out how to make my iPad stay on consistently by class time on Monday, so I taught using the camera on my laptop. You can really see the slope in the floor if you look at the video recording, but oh well. As a make do it worked.

My birthday is coming up in about 5 weeks I decided to crazy woman splurge and buy a new iPad Air. I got the green metallic one with a green case. It came yesterday and I am calling her Evelyn.

Listening to people talk on podcasts I had heard that the new iPhones don’t have a Home key. Whoa. Neither do the new iPads. And it took me two hours to figure out how to turn the darn thing off. Got that now. The whole contents of my old iPad (which I will either trade in or get fixed and give to a family member) came over seamlessly via Bluetooth. Nice!

For the record, I am not happy about the changes they made to the Apple Podcasts app with the new IOS update. I know they are preparing to monetize it with a subscription, and it is like…doesn’t Apple have enough money??? Just sayin’.

Now, if I can just figure out how to pair my darn hearing aids to it so I can adjust the volume remotely we will be cooking with gas.

Walking back from the garden on this beautiful weekday (without a mask) I was thinking how lucky I have been to be able to retire so I can have days like this. I am not sure it was worth the stress of those last couple of years and wish I had been able to avoid that, but it is done and gone gone gone.

Playing with Mr. Pink (Carlo) and roasting carrots and ordering pots to replant my seedlings in.

I have a new anatomy course to dive into. It is all about connective tissue and the new science that comes out of the research that is being done on it and recovery and pain management.

First though, I need to get my cardio in and set Evelyn up for her first go at teaching a class. They have those monitoring apps that tell you how much time you have been on screens…I want one that tells me how much time since lockdown I have had to spend to learn and adapt to new technology.

A lot.
