I am taking part in #MyEDSChallenge and #MyHSDChallenge with the Ehlers Danlos Society. Since May is EDS awareness month, every day I will be sharing something about myself and my EDS journey to drive further awareness and community.

Day 8 of the challenge: Movement & Activity

My routine is to go on walks twice a day. Sometimes those walks will be up to a mile on good days and sometimes they till just be short and around the block on other days. I am usually in pain during movement but that is okay. I will listen to my body if I need breaks and lay down in the grass or on a bench. I will bring my cane if I am going in public and need to stand. And if i am in public and need to walk long distances such as the airport… I will ask to use a wheelchair.

I am not as active as i used to be. In high school I was on varsity tennis. In college i was mostly normal… volunteering at zoos with zoology club. Post grad I was fitness oriented and would go to the gym a lot. But I had to rethink what the word exercise meant after 2013.
