Monday in 2020

My youngest just left for the bus stop without saying goodbye to me because she’s angry. Why? Because I wouldn’t drive her to the bus stop. Why did she want me to do this when she usually walks? Because it rained earlier and the ground is wet. So happy fucking Monday. Parenting teens is such a joy. /s

I should be focusing on the positive today, because I had a really great weekend. Saturday was my sister’s 60th birthday. She knew her younger daughter was flying in from Vegas to spend the weekend with her, but she didn’t know that her husband had also been busy planning a surprise party. I flew down as part of the surprise, and she was totally shocked to see me! We went and got pedicures on Saturday, and then when we got back to the house a small group of friends and family were there for the party and she was shocked again - it was so fun!

We went to the beach yesterday morning and it was beautiful. I love the sand and the water. I did get a bit sunburned on my shoulders, but it was totally worth it. I flew home last night and today I’m just tired and grumpy, but it’s going to be a good day. The library is resuming normal operating hours this week, so I’m going in to work at 11:30am and closing tonight (8pm), but that means I only work half a day tomorrow and then I’m off until Saturday.

Oh, and our new couch is finally being delivered on Thursday! I cannot wait, but the dogs are going to be distressed because there will be much less space for them. We got them a giant dog bed that we put in the living room, but so far they aren’t interested in it because they prefer to sit on the old sectional. That’s going away on Thursday morning though, and the new couch (actually a couch and a loveseat) are smaller so they will have to get used to it.

Only other thing of note: I sent the gentler message (along with the John Oliver video) to my friend before I left town on Friday, and she read it but has not replied. I’m going to let it be until she decides to address it.
