I finished reading “Permutation City” by Greg Egan. I returned it to the library today and found the new Stephen King on the shelf. I have another book in the pipeline but it was a purchase request so it may take awhile.
From the library I rode over to the bank and deposited a check. One more to come in the mail and that should be all of them.
I then rode over to Dollar General and found the dishwashing swisher thingy I’ve been looking for. A swisher with a pad for $3 and a package of two replacement pads for another $3. That should last me for years. I’d always used those for doing the dishes but Mom didn’t like them so we didn’t have one.
And then back to the house. An eight mile round trip using 21% of the battery.
And that reminds me. Totals for April were $83.24 for food and $0 for transportation.
The second Moderna shot on the 22nd of April was definitely not a placebo. I asked the young gal in the pharmacy what the efficacy rate was now. She said it was over 96% now, and getting higher.
Daughter had to quit her job to maintain her sanity. She stuck it out longer than I would have. She’ll be fine. In the last few months I did buy her a new backpack and a good sleeping bag. And at Christmas when she was here I gave her my old solo tent. Outfitting her like that wasn’t meant to be a deliberate nudge, just a subtle reminder that there are options other than working a shitty job that makes you miserable.
I’ve decided that the plan is to make a plan.
In the meantime I’ll sit here and read some Stephen King.
