Today is the first day of Aaron’s April break. He has the week off from school. It seems strange to have a school vacation time without the twins here. The twins will be done with the semester in early May. Today we went to the park by the water. It started out as kind of a misty rain but then cleared up. The plants are in early bloom and it was nice to be out. Tonight we got take-out for dinner. The Mets game was postponed today and Aaron wants to watch the double header tomorrow.
Timmy and Kayla seem to be adjusting to college. The weather has been nicer and they have been able to get out more. They are getting ready for finals in a couple of weeks. They feel better prepared for finals this time. Kayla is taking a biology class this semester that she likes. There is an online class portion and an in-person lab. She is planning to take more classes in the life sciences area next semester to find out if that is something she would want to major in. Timmy is taking a couple of language arts classes that he likes. He has been going to the writing center for help. He has been getting better grades on his written assignments. They are both undecided majors. They have an idea of what they want to study and can take additional classes in the fall when things are hopefully more normal.
It was very odd not to have Kayla and Timmy here for Easter. This is the first major holiday since they have been away at school. We will have to do their Easter baskets when they get back here.
Aaron’s school is doing a play. It will be socially-distanced and streamed online. Aaron is going to be in the play. I think he was a little hesitant to do anything in the dramatic arts when Kayla and Timmy were in high school. It is nice to see that he is branching out a little bit more.
I had my first dose of the covid vaccine. I had a sore arm and some minor fatigue but otherwise no serious side effects. I am due to get the second shot in a few weeks. Timmy and Kayla will be getting vaccines at school. The first plan was to get the J and J vaccine but due to the supply problems they may now get the first dose of one of the other vaccines and then get a second dose when they get home. Aaron will be eligible when he turns sixteen in mid-May. Although now there is talk of expanding eligibility to 12 to 15 years old so maybe before that.
