Two deaths.. in blackpropaganda

If the authorities in society deem it right that people who kill other people should be executed then it would seem to me that they should provide the most efficient means possible to carry out the act of execution. Death should be fast and conclusive. It seems the authorities in Oklahoma failed miserable in this regard. Essentially they used a mixture of drugs without knowing whether they would work efficiently ( I suppose the argument is that they could not carry out an experiment!). The result was excruciating pain over a long period for the prisoner - who, so they say, eventually died of a heart attack. If there was anything which suggests that capital punishment is wrong this is a clincher - leaving out all the moral arguments.

And on the other side in the UK - a 61 year old woman teacher is stabbed to death in her classroom by a fifteen-year old pupil in front of the class. An unnecessary death, but it might be difficult to explain - and how do you punish that?

Serious stuff today - but this time next week we should be in Spain. Something to look forward to!
