Four ship days this week. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday AND Monday off. Then work Tuesday and Wednesday next week and DONE! Greg was very thoughtful to ask me if I wanted to work Saturday... I asked why, and his answer was that Joe would sell and I could dispatch. This despite the fact that Joe sells and dispatches himself every Saturday. So I asked "Why?" again and Greg said "I just thought you might like one more day on your last pay check."

How very thoughtful and sweet really. The last pay check will be only 6 days instead of the usual 11 and Greg wanted to give me the opportunity to do almost nothing for another day's pay. I told him appreciated it and thanked him.

Heath, my new boss, called to find out if Madame had sent a check for their last few days' business with us. I checked with Madame and indeed the check should arrive today. I later saw Heath at the Sweet Tooth and the check did arrive. Heath also told me over the phone that they had a staff meeting this morning (Thursday the 19th) and that he announced that I would be joining the team next season. He said "Everyone is VERY excited that you are coming onboard." I told him I knew most of his crew and he already had a great crew and I hoped I would fit in well. Heath told me that if their reaction to his announcement was any indication, I was the perfect fit. This was very nice to hear.

I sure hope none of them tell Madame and Greg before I do.

Company 'party' is Saturday at the Pizza Station where they serve prime rib as their special that evening. I have committed to go and Hub has agreed also.

Hub has been suffering for 6 days with an increasingly painful tooth. Ibuprofen helps it quite a bit and he got some ambesol today and had me squirt it on this evening. He is asleep right now. He said he almost called Madame this afternoon to see what pain pills she might have that he could buy/have.

Funny, he told me this after I put in a call and left a message for Madame asking the same question this evening.

He called the dentist that visits Skagway from Juneau--the Clinic has a complete set up for him there. He will not be back in town until November. His receptionist said they were full up with appointments, but they could clean his teeth if he wanted!

OMG! Years ago the same problem with his tooth, same response from the receptionist--no appointments for that but they could clean his teeth! Sigh. That time he ended going to Whitehorse and seeing a dentist who told him it was so infected, there wasn't enough anesthetic in the world to allow him to touch the tooth.

So, I am giving him penicillin that the clinic gave me when I was having tooth problems a couple of weeks ago. It resolved quickly because it was just my wisdom tooth trying to come up again....

I called Eric M today to see if he could put Tuff-cat to sleep this afternoon. He was at home so I asked him if he was coming into town. He was home sick from work, but said he would come in if it was urgent. I told him no, we didn't want whatever he has. He is to call me tomorrow if he feels better. If not, I will see if I can get the police chief to do it. I still don't think Tuff is suffering badly.

But today as I watched him walk across the garage floor after I brought him down, I saw an OLD cat and one that was really done with life. I feel that way, in fact I felt that way today--like I was old, slow and just wanted to opt out of any more life.

Anyway, well that's about all I have for now. Eric and I sold 102 seats Wednesday, not bad for a 3 ship day! Made us happy, happy, happy and kept us busy too.

Gotta go, Blessed be!
