Why does it always have to be such a gamble when you want any work doing on the house? Not little stuff that I can do but the big stuff.
For years we’ve talked about getting a real roof on the conservatory so that we can use it year round and, when I wasn’t around a few days ago, a window/conservatory company knocked on the door. R answered and chatted to the bloke. Personally I always flirt door salespeople off but R made an appointment for a quote.
Thank goodness it was over zoom as we could switch it off of he became an arse.
You mustn’t forget, several years ago we were the folk who went to bed, leaving a window salesman looking uncomfortable downstairs before he let himself out 🤣🤣
Anyway. It was a schpeel about how their products are the best on the market and kept slagging off their competitors. I measured the conservatory and he hit pause in order to ‘bash out some numbers’.
Then we started getting the bollocks, you know, the old fake phone call to head office where they discuss how great their product is before coming up with a really great deal as long as we have it done by a certain date. And would we like to book it in now?
As soon as we told him that we would discuss it between ourselves as well as wait to see what other quotes we got before making a decision, he got very surly and cut us off pretty quickly.
The only way we will use them is if their quote is the lowest by a long way. I really hate the bullshit. Being upfront of a much better way to get any kind of a deal with me.
Grrrrr.
Anyway, I have someone coming over on Tuesday to do another quote. Hopefully a more honest someone. 🤞
