It's gone! in Adventures in paradise

The sofa has gone! I had to take 7 hours off work on Friday because I didn’t DARE get it rescheduled, knowing what this freight company have been like.
My rescheduled pickup from Thursday afternoon that never showed was made for 7am Friday. At 2:30pm, I received two phone calls from Briana (who I swear to God seems to be the only person working for Allied Express who does her job well) - the first asking me if I needed a tail-lift (umm yes, that’s what I requested!) and I was so flustered, I was like, “Will it still be today? I was told 7am?” and she assured me that it would be. I told her that our dock closed at 4:45pm.
And to make matters more stressful, my street had been closed off by the construction workers next door who had the massive crane blocking the street, and the open end of the street had a worker turning away any large vehicles that tried to turn down it.
There was a moment where I had to compose myself, close my eyes and take deep breaths, reassuring myself that if the truck never showed (again), or was turned away, the sofa would just have to continue sitting in the dock where it had been all week. I felt like I was on the verge of a panic attack, and I don’t have those.
Briana rang back a short time later, asking what they were picking up. I replied that it’s a sofa.
A little after 3pm, the driver rang me, dating he was parked outside the storage place next door. The construction workers knocked off work at 2pm, and the street was cleared to get down. I ran downstairs as fast as I could, and the guy reversed in. We pushed it onto the tail-lift, it got lifted up and he pushed it into the truck.
I explained my stressful situation to the driver and how relieved I was. He told me he knew how I felt, as he is getting a kitchen designed around his fridge and they fucked it up. I asked if he was getting a different fridge and he replied, “No, they are redoing the kitchen again.”. Wow. He must love that fridge.
This guy was a subcontractor for Allied when they are busy. He reckons there are still people waiting for their CHRISTMAS gifts! Apparently they fired all their management recently and have never recovered from the mess. My God. What a joke.
Anyway, I thanked him and off he went. I assume my sofa will take a month or two to make it back to Melbourne. I’m relieved as fuck that it’s out of that dock, but I was so stressed that it still feels like it’s there. I’ve still been trying to calm myself down over the past 24 hours.

I still went into work too for the final three hours of my shift!
Man, what an expensive stupid mistake that was on my part. I can only hope it makes it back in one piece and I get my store credit, if anything some sort of compensation. It just sucks it’s store credit as I don’t really want to deal with Allied Express ever again in my life, but they did deliver my other item with Toll IPEC and they were great. Maybe I can get a table lamp or something. God knows what else I’ll spend $999 store credit on. Gotta get it first before I think about that.

Gradually making it through my six-day work week. For someone who normally does four, it’s tough, but hey, these extra shifts need to pay for my stupidity.
In a way I’m sad because that sofa looked like it would have been fabulous.
