“Look George, Isn’t that a landing craft.”
Tired and covered in graffiti, it was coming toward us down the bay. We had quietly escaped the dust moving at our house to eat breakfast by the bay. Every two weeks we do this while Marta is making our home livable again. I bring a camera, a book, and a sense of humor. George brings the energy to bound out of the truck and photograph things.
Then it pulled in to our revamped boat launch area. I gestured, and George bounded with his phone…the good camera having just run the batteries dry. What could this LCI load at a boat launch ramp.
Why it loaded a brand new GMC pickup. Easily. As the LCI began reversing, the men on board started tying down the truck and raising the ramp.
It began turning as it backed, and picking up speed with a wonderful rumble headed for the Commercial side of the Island.
