Let's go iconic.... in blackpropaganda

I meant to write about the fact that yesterday was St George's Day, the patron saint of England. But such is my apathy towards the day, I forgot.

It is also when Shakespeare's birthday is celebrated - partly because it is known when he was christened but not when he was born - so it makes a useful link - and it was 450 years ago - thus, the big emphasis was on Will S. And with good reason since apparently he is the number one cultural icon for visitors - so imagine all those dollars flooding to Stratford on Avon.

Interesting thought who you think might be the cultural icon for a country - Scotland seems easy - Rabby Burns (maybe Sit Walter Scott) or Billy Connolly. Wales - Tom Jones, Bryn Terfel (great opera singer) - Ireland - Seamus Heaney, The Dubliners, James Joyce?

England? - It really does have to be Will, but what about the Beatles

Hey, all of them are men - now why is that?

Anyway, we have now booked to go to Spain for a couple of weeks - and booking on line is always a nervy time for me - trying to make sure I get everything right - and the computer does not play up, and I book twice!!! All is well (I think) - and we cab look forward to some time in our apartment before the summer when all the family go out at various times.

Oh, and US cultural icon - it has to be Elvis or Marilyn Monroe
