I feel like I’ve done this before, but I don’t know for sure and I’m too lazy to check!
How many Bedrooms in your house?
Four. We (obviously) have the master, which is way too big and has a small closet. Someday (when we win the lottery or something) I’d like to expand the closet and use some of the excess space in the bedroom for that, but for now I live with it. The kids have the two rooms across from us that are about the same size, and then there’s one extra room at the end of the hall that I use as my “office” for online socializing now that we never leave the house LOL. Rob is going to build a murphy bed in there, for now we have two air mattresses for any potential guests.
What rooms are downstairs?
Living room, dining room, half bath, kitchen, and one weird long bonus room - that’s where the kids have their desks, and that’s also where the dog crates are. We call it the dog room because we have a retractable gate that we can use to lock them in there when company is over and they are being unruly (the dogs, not the kids, though that’s a thought). Weirdly the house’s only fireplace is in that bonus room, so we’ve never used it because it’s not like we have a couch in there or anything.
Is your house tidy/lived in/cluttered/ showhome-perfect?
Definitely lived in, with cluttered sections. Tidy is the goal but four people and four dogs live here, so that’s rare.
What is the tidiest & messiest rooms in your house?
The kids’ rooms are definitely the messiest. Teenagers, ugh. I try to make them clean them out at least once a month, and we don’t allow food or technology in their rooms (if we did, we’d never see them), but wow are they messy. I guess the living room is probably the tidiest? We tend to sweep there the most, because of the dogs, and it’s not overly full of stuff.
How often do you do laundry?
Once or twice a week.
What laundry detergent do you use?
Tide pods. I’ve tried other stuff, but that’s what works best for the quantity and types of laundry we do.
Do you do laundry for your partner?
Usually. If he’s been working on something in the house or the yard and wants to clean whatever he was wearing, he may do a load, but he will generally just leave the clean stuff in the dryer until he needs it (or until I take it upstairs).
How do you dry your wet laundry?
Tumble dryer. Even in the summer, it’s so humid here that attempting to dry most things on a line would be an exercise in futility.
How often do you vacuum?
I don’t. We have hard floors on the ground floor, so the kids (theoretically) sweep every, and I make them vacuum the upstairs about once a week. The dogs don’t go upstairs for the most part, so that stays cleaner.
How often do you mop the kitchen floor?
Maybe every two weeks? Depends how much it rains. We have a dog door and four dogs, so if it rains a lot then we mop more because otherwise my house is full of muddy footprints.
Do you have a window cleaner?
Nope. Not a priority right now. Or maybe ever.
Describe your cleaning routine:
Make chore list, yell at kids to pay attention to chore list, scurry around like a madwoman straightening and dusting whenever we have company (especially if it’s going to be my mother in law). Also, we have cleaners that come once a month because I’m not great with details.
How often do you wash bed sheets?
We aim to do it weekly. Sometimes it’s more like every other week.
Do you have any cleaning products you can’t do without?
I love me some clorox wipes. I hear that some people don’t like the smell of bleach, but I am decidedly not one of those people.
