drape yourself in sheets of difference
or better yet advertise all of the ways
we're all really the same
but do it with your full heart everyday
and do it without shame
bleed it in your words
carve it into your face
blast in into the moon
with a laser in space
but do it
yes, to thine own self be true
no one else can do it
no one else can be you
and you get to choose
what being you means
our souls scream a fleeting zeitgeist out in the night
our souls radiate in pulses on the short-waves
our souls outlive our bodies in the residue of our actions
even if we never go beyond our graves
even if there is no hell
and isn't any heaven
so when the day breaks
put the motherfucker back together
when your heart breaks
wrap it up in leather
for your big break
let's all break together
pick the pieces of our souls up
when the spring comes
sometimes we'll have to be invisible
subliminal luminaries
dropping notions in stray ears
never remembered
changing the world
nonetheless through the years
and because we were never famous
they can never kill our legacies
by finding our flaws and undressing us
we will find ourselves beyond fame
we are beyond that mere acclaim
we are more than our checkbooks
we are more than our names
hell
our names are the very least of us
we are history in the making
we are draping
we are filling and fading
we are waxing and waning
we are bending and breaking
and we are
doing it all again
the next day
