The lyrics have aged slightly. In the wake of George Floyd, the phrase “you’re standing on my neck” clearly has a new meaning. But I feel the phrase is still metaphorical, not literal. (Though, taken literally, the entire song could be a BLM anthem. “Death of the Author” and such.)

Gosh, I loved watching this show. My favorite episode is the one where Daria is about to DESTROY her little sister Quinn to the entire school. And then she realizes it would hurt her, so she relents, and instead does a video that inflates Quinn’s already inflated ego.

La la la.
