Hospital, again in 2020

My mom is in the hospital again. She’s been there two nights already, and will be there at least another day or two while they figure out what is going on. She’s essentially nonverbal, though she does understand some of what is said to her (indicated by nodding or shaking her head).
They’ve done a CT scan, and found she has a compression fracture (T-10) as well as a mass on her bladder and another on her thyroid. She was having difficulty eating so they did a swallow test, they’re going to work out a feeding plan. They are trying to avoid intubation, as that would probably be terrifying for her given the dementia.
Happy fucking holidays. This year can continue to fuck right off.
Oh, and the city decided to scale library services back to curbside only (no more patrons in the building for now), which is an excellent decision given our area’s spike in Covid cases, but it meant that yesterday I got to deal with irate patrons who didn’t realize we would be closing…including one who just stormed into the building. I used my mom voice and told him in no uncertain terms to get out. I hope I wasn’t too mean, but he fucking walked right past two signs that said “Stop! Building is closed until further notice!” - not to mention my colleague who was outside talking to another patron, which is the only reason the door was open at all.
I’m not feeling very sociable right now. That’s probably evident.

I’m so sorry about your mom. That’s tough especially this stupid year.
