30: What did you think of this year’s NoJoMo?

I think it was up and down. There were some interesting prompts, but there were also some that were…hastily used? There were also some that were very similar to the previous years before.

I wish that people would actually commit to helping with the prompts, myself included.

I also wish that some people would have the creativity to write more than one or two sentences. I would imagine those people would be boring to interact with in real life. If someone can’t have a fun, imaginative conversation, even over something so mundane as…food…then there is nothing else they have to offer, other than a view of routine and negativity.

With 2020 being the hot mess it was, I think this years NoJoMo kind of fell into that with it’s chaotic mess.

Honestly, I’m surprised it even happened at all. I’m also surprised that there wasn’t more prompts regarding the Rona and all the batshit craziness that happened.

And it’s because of that, I believe that is a testament of the strength of people: despite all this craziness, there was still a bit of a fight to have something semi-“normal” in this year.

We may have been given some “boring” prompts, as I’ve read, but it was up to us to do something with them. And seeing that many people only had one or two sentences about them, complained about them…it tells me a lot about that person.

And those are people that may be great at fixing a car, because it’s a very limited scope of practice with repetition being a big part of it (like alignment, oil changes, etc), but those are not people I would want in medicine or art. Don’t get me wrong, we NEED mechanics. Airplane, tractors, cars, and so on…we NEED those mechanics. They’re BEYOND important.

Medicine is ever-changing, needs outside-the-box thinking, creative thinking on how to set up the experiments or even just coming UP with vaccines, meds, etc.

Same with art. There are so many ways to express yourself through art, so many different mediums. Look at the times of all art, you can see influences, from the era and maybe other artists.

I would SUCK as a mechanic, so I applaud them. I am thankful to them, because they have a mindset and abilities that I don’t have. However, trying to talk about art and music and weird-ass thoughts is one-sided.

So, I can hang out with those people with a limited time frame before I get bored and wander off.

I’ve never said I was a good person, but routine is not my passion. Yes, you can be passionate about routine, because yes, things improve in that field, but they don’t change much. You still have a complex system that needs to be maintained and has a similar string of, start, work through, this goes here and that goes there and there is flow, etc.

It’s the same with life. Many people are wake up, coffee, kids, work, home, kids, eat, sleep, and repeat.

I can only read that so many times before I get bored. I have people like that in my life already. Every time they have a free night, that’s all they want to do, is talk about their spouse/significant other, complain about them and/or the kids, work…it’s like, DAMN.

That isn’t a life to me. And if that’s what makes them happy, then good for them.

Meanwhile, I’m planning my next vacation and wondering what I should do now.
