Waiting. in A small but passable life.

Daughter called Saturday and said she had two of the symptoms, one being the tell-tale, the losing the sense of taste.
She texted yesterday morning and said she was online trying to find a testing site.
I haven’t heard anything since. I’m just waiting.
During our conversation Saturday I slipped back into authoritarian Dad mode for a bit. I was expressing my opinion that she was a clerk in a convenience store and her job DID NOT entail cleaning junkie blood, used needles and other hazardous detritus from the restroom.
JUST. FUCK. THAT.
I told her to lock and shut the restroom door and hang an “Out of Order” sign on it. And if she needed to pee during her shift just go behind the building and squat or use a pee bottle in the storeroom or out in the van.
I told her that a letter or email to OSHA and the county health department might be a good idea.
It doesn’t help that her boss, the manager of the store is her roommate/best friends mother and a bit unqualified for that job. And a bit of an uneducated cracker.
Anyway. I’ve got my once a month, last day of the month one load of laundry done.
And Saturday I replaced Mom’s kitchen faucet. I finally found the one I’d been looking for at Ace Hardware. And I found the perfect little hatchet there too. All I need now is a folding camp saw.
Anyway, I’m just going to sit here and worry.
