Ah Music.

Yes, Capital M.

With all my cyclic thoughts and feelings, I tend to be careful, as the last thing I want is a song stuck in my head at the end of the day. Even a song I like. I remember when Metallica released Hardwired. And all those videos. Oh, great songs to get stuck in your head in common life.

But not when you are trying to fall asleep.

Anyway, I have been reduced in technology. I still never rebuilt Kelly Quark, despite blowing money on her. In sadness, I have considered taking her at a loss.

To think you are good at something, to believe you are good at something, and to fail horribly. I didn’t rebuild her. I’m sorry, Kelly. Maybe it was her video card or her plasma coil.

Nevermind.

I didn’t listen to any music while writing this latest NanoNovel. In the past, I would put in specific music to put me in a mood. This novel.

Silence.

Whether it shows in the writing, I don’t know. I don’t think it will reach Draft One quality by the end of the month. And that’s okay. That’s the journey of Nanowrimo. Throw some stuff up against the wall and see if it will stick. Even the stuff I’d like to scrap from the novel makes me go

“Huh. That’s a decent segment. BUT NOT THIS NOVEL.”

Or other segments where you think you are violating the entire arc, but then realize how other characters reacting to this sudden change would allow some character growth between them.

Most of my NanoNovels have been the same idea. Take my life experience and fictionalize it. Exaggerate. Make it bad, make it worse. Play with it.

Anybody remember “A Brief History of Timmy”? Which spanned over ten entries? Gotta love character limits.
