Mild Irritation in Random Public Stuffs

There was only one other time I was anxious to vote and that was in 2004 when I was pregnant with my youngest. In my podunk “city” of approximately 180,000 there were actually sides of supporters that would physically clash and try to scream at voters going in and out who to vote for, who they “thought” that person voted for.
I had to take my brother with me, being 8 months pregnant. Sure enough, when I came out, they both got too close and knocked me down. While sitting on the ground, I had so many things screamed at me, I was ready to start swinging. Fortunately, my brother shoved everyone aside and picked me up while cops helped with pushing people back.
And now, being an obvious Indigenous person, about to go vote in am upper middle-class neighborhood turns my stomach a bit. I’m wondering if I should go get Andrew to take with me. (Best friend since we were 10, pure Norwegian, suuuuuuper white.)
But I’m still going to vote.
