Things are starting to feel real. I called the storage locker place and I go down tomorrow to reserve my unit. We’ll sort out the details from there. Then after that, I will plan how to get my big stuff there. If I don’t have to rent a truck that would be great. Then I applied for one of the last three CERBS available to me. I call Kyle this evening to discuss those details, me invading his spare room I mean. I haven’t applied to anything knew, employment wise, because I don’t know which side of the city I am even living in. I’m couch surfing in two weeks, I don’t know how stable things need to be in your lives to stay sane but this is a new level of chaos for me. I’m trying to remain calm and collected here. Just have to rise to the challenge instead of getting buried by it. As per usual.
I had a brief conversation with my mother finally and she couldn’t care less. She actually sent me a text this morning with COVID stats and asked me if I still thought that COVID wasn’t real. Like, what branch of logic is she cleaving to that would allow her to think that I am denying the existence of COVID? I have differences of opinions about the responses and such but that does not make me a denier of COVID. My word people. She was more concerned about my views on COVID than my situation. She backpedalled because she saw that I had written a post about the pandemic getting worse, the response getting worse, the economy getting worse, the unemployment getting worse and I asked if anyone else was struggling to keep faith during these desperate times. She had no interest in my situation whatsoever. My vindictive side just wants to write everybody out of my life. I’m the first person they call when shit hits the fan. Where are they now? I’m not complaining, just stating the hypocrisy or irony or whatever you want to call it. Anyway, I am going for a walk with Bruce again. I like being around her victor mentality and she likes company on her walks. I’m her designated accountability partner whether she knows it or not. She’s losing an average of 5lbs a week. Her crash diet and exercise is not necessarily sustainable as it only has a 5% success rate. She’s been working on her behaviour and habits and lifestyle which is exactly what she needs to do. She is up for gastric bypass surgery and she was given a choice to stop her efforts now and get the surgery or to not get the surgery and power through with what she is doing. She can’t have it both ways. She’s on the fence. She’s happier with the diet and exercise so I think she will skip the surgery. We shall see. Anyway, it’s -4c so I gotta go bundle up.
