I got asked if I could do an extra shift yesterday so I went in - ergh, starting work at 6am on a normal day-off is torture. Anyway it was only 4 hours so I went back home and tried to prep myself up to get ready for my dentist appointment.
The last dentist I had was an Asian lady in the city who went about it in a very weird way. I had all these gree sheets of paper sticking out of my mouth during the procedures and it was so expensive and it just put me off going to the dentist for a very long time.
I walked to the train station and caught the train to Indooroopilly and had to read the centre map to find out where this dentist was. I was a first-time patient so had to fill in all my deets on the Ipad. Brande had told them my surname was “Psesser” LOL. Anyway, Brande actually turned up just before I was about to go in. I wasn’t expecting to see him til after I was done.
The dentist even asked if he wanted to come into the room WITH me, and thank GOD he said no. Jesus. I was already nervous enough let alone having one of my friends sitting there watching me with my mouth open.
Anyway, it went great! I do not miss that needle at all. Turns out I had a chipped tooth, which was causing my discomfort last week. I do have a few other things which I need to get done (as I hadn’t been to the dentist in 3 or 4 years, I can’t remember which), so I will be returning to get those done next Wednesday. And then another one sometime after that, because, the first waiting period is done with and I have covered health insurance!
And thank GOD for that. The procedure came to… $801. For a fucking check-up, X-rays, clean and to fix that damaged tooth. With my insurance, I only had to pay $101.
My annual policy cost me like $438, so it’s paid for itself and more already! And apparently I have no annual limit for preventative.
I’m now worried they will try to double-charge me for things that were on the first bill next week. Brande is actually having a checkup as well and is going in before me.
Anyway, I’m just glad I’m out of pain. It looks like I may need a crown as well for one of my teeth, as it has hairline fractures that I could see on the XRay, but that will be major dental and not covered by the insurance for another 10 months, so I’m hoping I can put that one off for a while. If it causes me trouble, I guess I will have no choice. I’m just so glad I thought to get insurance back in July/August because I was looking into orthodontic treatment. Anyway, two more dental visits for me it seems. At least she was a lovely dentist who did things normally.
Is dental expensive as fuck where you guys live? I’d love to compare.
We waited the half hour until my fluoride settled and then went and got wings at a venue outside. It was a large venue and we were the only ones in there. We got the hot buffalo wings. I just ate and drank on the un-treated side. Then we went to Brande’ fav cafe for Tiramisu and I may have had a cocktail.
So of course after that huge-ass day, I managed to turn off 2 alarms and awoke at 6:48am… when my shift started at 7am. There was no way I was gonna make it. FUCK!
I am getting too old for these 16-hour awake days haha. Take me back to when I was 18 and going to work straight from the club!
I did get to test out the new app we sign on and off with at work though. Unfortunately it recognized that I wasn’t in my work’s vacinity and therefore couldn’t sign on. I wondered if I could get around it with my VPN but it’s only certain cities in certain countries haha. Anyway, I managed to get there only 15 minutes late and nice store-manager was like, “Hey, at least you’re here!”
