after slaying the bull of heaven in poetry

it is a lesson that
goes all the way back
to good King Gilgamesh
you can go home again
after all your loss and
all your existential quests
but the world will have
left you inexorably changed
so home can't be the same
you can come back to Uruk
finding only fallen walls
when you drop your royal name
they don't remember you at all
but you're home again
if home is just place
you can go back to your fallen walls
and show your long-forgotten face
but it won't mean
a thing
