Kittens... in 2020

Well for starters, I was super worried and stressing that the momma cat (Trixie) was going to wait until I was out of town to have her kittens. Plus she’s such a tiny cat in the first place (probably like 6-7 lbs), that with how big she was getting and based on the size of the cat I assumed was the daddy (calling him Fathead), that she either had a couple of really big kittens or a football team in there. So last Tuesday I was already taking Buster to the vet for laser treatments, so I decided to take her too and get her scanned or whatever to find out if she would need a c-section. They did an x-ray and showed me and could count at least 6 kittens. So that made me feel better bc I’d rather her not have birthing problems while I’m gone. On the not so good side, based on Buster’s weight loss and the bf making a comment about Buster drinking more water, I had the vet test him for diabetes, and Buster has the sugars. So now we’re giving him insulin shots and trying to get his glucose leveled out. The vet told me to start at 3 units once a day. So we’re keeping a log of his shots and using urine test strips multiple times a day to keep track of his glucose. Luckily giving him the shots has been easy. I wasn’t worried about me, bc i give the goats shots and have never had much of an issue, but the bf has done way better than I expected. Instead of waiting until next week, I did my own research and have been gradually bumping up his insulin dose, bc the 3 units wasn’t decreasing his glucose levels enough. He’s up to 5 units today and it is just now dipping down. From my research, I honestly think he will need around 5-6 units at least once, maybe twice a day. I’m just trying to be proactive and level him out better before he sees the vet again. As long as he doesn’t get a negative on the glucose strip his sugar isn’t getting too low. Anyone have experience? He currently weighs about 22-23 lbs.
Work has been crazy busy recently. As far as I know they haven’t moved forward with offering the management position to the next guy on the list, but I’ve also heard that he has said he isn’t interested in moving to another plant, so who knows?
Oh, but anyways, of course the next day on Wednesday, I called the bf and asked if he had checked on momma cat, and of course he had forgotten. He went up there, and she had already had 3 kittens, and had 3 more fairly quickly. Anyone on my fb has probably already seen the pictures. My bff got us a kitten cam and it’s set up so I can check on them anytime I want. And my bff, sister, and mom all downloaded the app so they can look at them too. The other cat in the room with her (Lucy) had kittens a few months ago and was already pregnant again when I took her in, but she miscarried, which the vet had warned me could happen bc she got pregnant when her kittens were only like 6 weeks old. Anyways, when Trixie was having her kittens, Lucy was right there helping clean the kittens as they were born and has continued to watch over them. In fact, when the bf went to check on them Friday morning, Lucy had kidnapped all the kittens and put them in her box with her lol. This morning she had 3 of them with her. She keeps going in the box with Trixie and they both lay with the kittens and groom them. It’s adorable. And I’m glad that Trixie has someone to help her. As far as the kittens go, there are 2 boys and 4 girls. There are 2 tabby/tiger striped ones, 1 light gray one with stripes, and 3 Russian blue colored ones, though 2 of them are darker than the other one.
We leave Monday morning for Savannah for the book con. I still have to pack, clean the house, go over payroll, etc. I should have done more today, but was being lazy.

Poor Busty, sociologist.
That's cute that the other kitty is assisting.
