the logic of a dream in poetry

we are given metaphor and story
because the truth is too complex
too layered and too seemingly
paradoxical for a mind to grasp
we’re given narratives and cycles
to comprehend subconsciously
so we can keep doing what we need to
so the paradoxes in our rhymes
the repetitions of our times
exist without a given iteration
of the universal knowing
giving into momentary
despair’s collapse
like Hawking radiation
halves of imaginary pairs
randomly escaping from the
corpses of compressed stars
transformed surviving information
briefly forgetting itself in action
then going home, that’s what we are
