requiem for the strident in poetry

render unto Caesar’s section
his cereals and his salads
the material is immaterial
it’s only love that’s valid
possessions are obsessions
you’re owned by what you own
compassion is a thing you do
not a pose or some ring tone
ideology’s another idolatry
empathy doesn’t cost a cent
the real more than the feels
a heart much more than rent
you say you want revelation
you say you want revolution
you say you want revenge
you say you want restitution
those are Caesar’s definitions
instead try for evolution
going fist for fist at best
fits you for an iron glove
hate makes you as your enemy
there’s nothing wrong with love
