What follows are not my words; but after another rousing day of “Joe Biden is a rapist, white racist and voting for Liberal Trump is bullshit. I don’t care if Sanders supports him!!” I felt… this is exactly the kind of shit that needs to be heard:

Either Joe Biden or Donald Trump will be inaugurated next January.

The ideal candidate for which your revolutionary little heart yearns does not exist, and is not on the fucking menu. Your “writing in” someone else, or voting for Jill Stein again, or pouting and staying home, doesn’t change jack shit about one central fact:
Either Joe Biden or Donald Trump will be inaugurated next January.

And since some people clearly don’t understand how the federal government functions, know this: the most important task a President undertakes is staffing the Executive Branch. That is, whom he puts into cabinet positions and other jobs that do the actual work of the Executive Branch.

So even if you don’t like Joe himself, it is simply untrue—let’s call it a lie—to suggest that Biden would put our public schools in the hands of someone like Betsy Devos who actively opposes public education.
He would not put his unqualified son in-law and a theocratic Vice President in charge of a deadly pandemic. Despite all his flaws, Biden would pass the fucking mic to medical experts like Dr. Fauci instead of bloviating self-serving, scientifically illiterate bullshit from the White House podium every day.
Joe Biden would not pardon a sadistic war criminal while firing a captain who tried to save the lives of his crew.
He would not direct ICE to raid medical facilities during a pandemic.
He would not pick fights with our democratic allies while sucking up to every fascist dictator from Brazil to Turkey to North Korea.
He would not threaten his own ambassadors for refusing to make up dirt on a political opponent.
He would not base every single decision on how hard the petitioner kisses his ass, and imperil the very lives of innocent civilians because their governor said something critical of him.

So even if you don’t like Joe himself, and I have plenty of misgivings about him, start getting your head out of your ass now—so that you’re not one of the trendy, privileged white “revolutionaries” in the fall who relies on dishonest false equivalencies and pretends it doesn’t matter which of these candidates wins.

Because it bloody well does, as people are discovering at the cost of their own lives.
