You Don’t Need a Weatherman in Everyday Ramblings

To tell which way the wind blows…

We are having a stunner of a fall day. There is a breeze but it is going to be quite warm later. For once though it is not muggy. Yippee. I love the fall light. Because of the slant and the leaves still on the majority of the trees it is like the light no other time of the year.

I am listening to The Emotional Life of Your Brain in audiobook format. Last night I picked up a copy of the book at the library because there were some things I wanted to write down and that is a challenge when one is out zipping around the local track listening. 27 8 year olds running flat out at one can be a bit distracting. :)

It is interesting and fits in with the mood modification through yoga work and study I am doing. It is about the actual physiological basis of emotion. The author is a serious scientist but also a big fan of meditation and has worked with the Dalai Lama (who says they knew each other in a former life, I’d take that very seriously).

Yesterday was Miss E.’s 13th birthday. How can this be? It is a wondrous and terrifying thing. She had school so it was a relatively normal day, no flying to LA or Paris or skydiving or anything. She still doesn’t have a cell phone but a few weeks ago someone stepped on her iPad and cracked it. (She was at an outdoor concert.)

My oldest sister actually ventured to an Apple store with her and it was still under warranty so she is one happy camper to have a replacement. I bought her new toe shoes and an iTunes gift card. And received a thank you email. She is a good kid, besides being beautiful and talented.

I had asked her when she was here about the television show SMASH because it was close to the top of my queue as a recommendation from Netflix. I got the full rundown and on Saturday night I binge watched the first four episodes and enjoyed it.

A lot of the actor’s job is to look amazed at how talented these young stars are but they are in fact talented so it is all good fun. I hear the second season is a bit weaker but hey I plan to enjoy Season 1.

The other night I was fooling around on YouTube looking for songs from the show and found the audition video of Jennifer Hudson for American Idol. This is so interesting because Jennifer Hudson is of course the perfect model for Weight Watchers. There are posters all over our meeting room and online and…

And it turns out she is featured in Season 2 of SMASH. Who knew?

I need to get ready to go teach and have a work meeting but I am trying as hard as I can to enjoy every possible minute with Stella while she is still here. I will miss her so.

It has been very hard to find OD stable enough to leave notes. Like many others I am mirroring my posts over on Prosebox. Hope to get around to you soon.
