so. this might be hard. for some reading this to. digest hell it’s hard for me even though. i don’t know any of the details.
well i am of. british descent mom’s side. and way back when in the 1600’s an ancestor of mine by the last name of ‘newsom’ or maybe w/ an ‘e’, at the end? a british ancestor had............um workers. of african/african american descent. yes just like during the civil war. i won’t say the other word the s.........l........... word bc it’s just. too horrible a word. even though yes it is the actual term. they had. those workers here. in the u.s.
now. the only detail i know is. that in the um will that’s the word. this ancestor left, the workers to..........whomever. i mean they could’ve worked in his house. [the ancestor was probably a guy.]. which would’ve been better. no but to think. and hear [that] the ancestor Mr. Newsom i’m presuming. [just so i don’t have to keep being vague about it] left. the workers to........whomever. it’s weird to think that. once upon a time someone owned, someone else.......like. it’s just so different from now, in a lot of the world. er a lot of parts of the world rather. like they’re people ya know they’re not..............i know it was clearly a different time then. it’s still hard to wrap my head around, as it were. but i’m not like that and the good news is. in many parts of the world that has changed.
it’s just weird ya know? and uncomfortable. now obviously i’m not. racist or anything. i’m a really. accepting person. and i learned about the civil war in. in school and all that. but up untill now it was never ‘oh no one i know/knew of ..........’ had. well you know. [i mean yeah so clearly i didn’t know. that ancestor.]. or the people could’ve worked on a plantation i have no idea. it’s just really weird. cause when i learned. in school about the civil war and civil rights movement. it was this abstract, vague thing.
yes. i realise the british had control over a lot of the world at the time.
i live. w/ people of color. they’re good to me........i’ve never talked about their ancestry nor would i bc i’m just so. uncomfortable bringing the topic up. like uh god. ...........um. up untill now i don’t think i’ve ever said they are people of color. that’s not something i usually say about people. unless someone asks. i mean it doesn’t bother me. it’s just. really different. [well there are white people in the south. oh they’re from the south.]. what does bother me however. is the woman i live w/. is homophobic. and yet..........um........
no but that’s why. there is or was? the civil rights movement. that’s why. we have Pride. [well actually that happened bc of Stonewall.]. and. all that. bc of social injustice something i’m v. passionate about just not usually outwardly. well. of course i’m passionate about it. i mean w/ my history. v. passionate.
like i said. i don’t know any of the details.
well thanks.
