01. Favourite childhood memory?
I think some of the best times we had were going to my dad’s company picnics. He worked for the huge open pit copper mine in Bayard, NM, owned by Phelps Dodge at the time (now Freeport MacMoran). There was always such a huge feeling of community during those picnics. Plus a ton of good food (hot dogs, hamburgers, bbq) for a kid.

02. It’s 2003- What are you up to?
Early 2003, I was still in High School. Spent a ton of time there due to fundraising for FCCLA (FHA). May June and July were the same, late July we went to Philadelphia for FCCLA nationals. Also got to see DC that trip. August I spent getting all my stuff ready and telling people bye. We left for Denver middle of August, spent a week in Taos with my grandma and then drove me up to Denver so I could start college at Johnson & Wales. Came home for Christmas, went back on January 7th 2004.

03. What’s been the best year of your life?
I would have to say 2012. This will probably sound weird but I got back on AFF in 2012. I met a good handful of people. One who I thought I was actually going to end up being in a relationship with. But then he treated me like everyone else after he found out the kinds of stuff I have to deal with on a daily basis (and everything wasn’t THAT bad then). But I had A LOT of fun that year. I met Randy that October and well the rest is history. We’ll be together 8 years in November and Married 1!

04. And what’s been the worst?
DEFINITELY 2016. But since then, it’s been extremely rough.
Randy’s sister, Kimmy, had been in progressively more abusive relationships, and the last one killed her in March of 2016 in front of her house (he walked, by the way, there wasn’t “enough evidence” to prove he killed her, even though medically and physically she would not have been able to shoot herself the way she was shot, which is what they determined). She survived Leukemia, and was murdered by her boyfriend
April of 2016 my mom started getting sick. She had terrible pain in her abdomen for the longest time and she was extremely uncomfortable. They drained 8 liters of fluid from around her intestines, that’s when they found out she had something going on and she spent the rest of April in Albuquerque trying to get into a hospital to be seen. May 10th she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Uterine Cancer and passed on June 2nd.
In July or August of 2016, a family friend (cousin’s mother in law) choked to death at a restaurant.
In September of 2016, one of our neighbors who we had gotten to know fairly well, and had moved in shortly after we did in January, was found slumped over in his truck a few miles from the house. He had had a heart Attack.
November 2016, my great aunt, mom’s aunt, grandma’s only remaining sibling, passed due to uterine cancer.
In 2017
my uncle (mom’s oldest brother) died from Leukemia.
Randy and I almost broke up because he was still trying to see his ex, the one that asked him for his sperm.
I got pregnant, and lost the baby at 7 weeks thanks to the Methotrexate I had already stopped 2 months prior, but it wasn’t enough time for it to get out of my system.
In 2018
Randy had a series of strokes at the end of January, was in the hospital and rehab for three weeks. Went back to work at the end of March only to tear his MCL on his left knee. He was an assistant manager for Jimmy John’s and they slowly phased him out because he wasn’t fast enough any more.
Randy took another job that was going to be the savior to our crises lol, but in January of 2019 he became more and more depressed about his state of being, he was hurting more, forgetting more and he just wasn’t comfortable handling other people’s financials. So he hasn’t worked since January of 2019.

05. Greatest fear?
I’m not sure. So much shit has happened in the last 10 years that I really don’t know what I fear anymore.

06. Do you experience any recurring dreams?
I used to have one where I would climb this HUGE tree near a lake we used to go to back home. Its giant, like 30 or 40 feet tall, with a huge canopy. I climb it no problem, but as soon as I get to the top and break through the leaves to sit on top of the tree, it starts falling over. In the dream I fall with the tree, hit the ground and everything goes black. Sometimes, I’ll wake up then, being startled by the fall, or sometimes I’ll wake up inside the dream still with everyone around me taking care of me, cleaning me up and stuff. I haven’t had it in a LONG time, but that’s the only one I can remember.

07. Do you ever speed when driving?
I generally go 5-10 over. Flow of traffic though, if enough people are doing 90+, I’m right there with them. We got into a group of about 6 that were heading to LA a few years ago and we were doing 110 the whole way. We were almost to Cali when everyone started dropping off so we slowed down, and sure enough a state trooper came through, pulled in front of us and pulled the car leading us over. WHOOPS!

08. Have you ever stolen something?
I accidentally stole a cross body purse from walmart in California once. I put it on me so I wouldn’t have to carry it through the store, because its the first thing I saw, then we checked out and it was behind me, so I didn’t feel it. It wasn’t until we got into the car that I sat on it and realized. It was like $5 but still i felt bad lol.

09. You can time travel to any decade, which one do you pick (and why)?
I’d go back to the 60s and observe my mom and dad. I don’t know a lot about the details of their dating or anything like that. I know my dad moved back home after a year or two of college, then he and my mom would write letters to each other. I know that when they were getting serious, my dad sent my mom a 26 page letter. It was 26 pages taped together with a giant A on it (last name). I also know that he was like “sooooo when do you want to get married” lol.

10. Sweet or salty?
I like both. Gotta have one with the other!

11. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?
Don’t Get Stuck In the Sand
