What The Douche? in Book Seven: Reconstruction 2020

Okay… sometimes, things are stupid as hell. Truthfully. Our Governor and our Emergency Management Department have released a really nicely worded declaration that if as many people work from home as possible then we won’t have to shut the state down as we’ve seen in other states. Note the wording… specifically stating IF AS MANY PEOPLE WORK FROM HOME AS POSSIBLE… so I’m working from home. Because the courts have been shut down. And because I can. So I am following what is being recommended from the highest levels of State and County Government. But over the lunch hour I got an e-mail from my boss. Outlining the specific protocols for requesting sick leave during this health crisis. It was not an “all department” e-mail. It was individually sent to me. With a message from the boss saying “to pay special attention to the process for requesting compensation during absences.” Like… dude… I’m not home sick. This isn’t me skipping out on work. This is me following the medical recommendations of the CDC, the proclamation of the Governor, and the proclamation of the County’s Emergency Management Department. Why the fuck even suggest that this is me being absent from work? It just… it burns me up a little.

Especially in light of the GOP response over the last 24 hours. Yesterday, they wanted to pass a bill that would require “the average tax payer” to pay back money given to us as stimulus. HOWEVER, the Corporations who would receive a FAR LARGER portion of money would not have to pay the government back. So… give billionaires loads of tax payer money free of charge and call it “FOR THE ECONOMY”? Pass. And yet… today Governors and Senators and others have actually gone so far as to expressly state “The elderly may need to realize that they are expendable if we want to keep our economy from collapsing.” WHAT THE SHIT?! You couldn’t force through a bill that would reward your billionaire donors so now you’re saying we should just accept that people are going to need to die to prevent your billionaire donors from losing more money? Seriously cold bullshit, fuckers. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO is pass a bill to give states a shit ton of money with the required caveat of that money to be GOES TO SMALL LOCAL BUSINESS OWNERS because THEY are the ones that actually need the help right now.

(Obviously the wording of this meme is VERY messed up; but worth being heard. We only have this one Once in a Lifetime Opportunity to stay home, lying in front of the TV to save the world. Don’t screw this up.)
